2/23/2013

I woke up at 6AM today, my dad's alarm blaring in my ear from the pocket of a pair of pants he had left next to the futon in the computer room. I groped around blearily in a vain attempt to silence the angry device only to turn up empty handed. After a quick moment to collect my thoughts, I finally mustered enough motor coordination to grab the phone from its cozy den and silence it. Somewhere in the back of my brain I realized I should probably walk upstairs and wake my dad up, given that his alarm clock had been set for a reason, and it was probably not just to annoy me early in the morning. I gripped the phone firmly in my hand and resolved to climb out of bed after 10 seconds. Twenty minutes later, my dad woke me up, phone still clenched between my fingers.

The rest of the day proceeded smoothly (final wake-up time: 11:30AM) with much conversing between my mom, my cousin, and myself. We drove downtown to send my cousin to an SAT tutoring session, and I had a nice cup of coffee with my mom at the Corner Cup, one of so many slightly hipster coffee houses that littered the UVa campus.

The rest of the evening was spent engaged in dinner, tennis with my cousin, and video games, a pattern oft repeated whenever I return home.

I'll be leaving tomorrow morning. I guess you really never can go back.
